The tasting is led by Jakub Klemmer (Co-Founder of InfiniTea Leaves), who has curated the tea selection for the evening. Specialising in Korean and Japanese teas, he regularly travels to tea-growing regions, building direct relationships with tea farmers and gaining first-hand insight into their craft. Through his work, he brings the craftsmanship and cultural heritage of tea to Germany.
Joining him is Kwok Ying von Beuningen, a Berlin-based tea sommelier at a fine-dining restaurant, where she develops tea pairings that complement and elevate the culinary experience. Her approach brings together the nuances of tea with flavour, texture, and balance.
The tasting takes place at Oukan Vegan Fine Dining in the heart of Berlin-Mitte, where Japanese-inspired aesthetics meet contemporary, plant-based cuisine. With its own fermentation lab, Oukan explores depth, texture, and complexity through seasonal ingredients and fermentation.
Together, the expertise of Jakub and Kwok Ying and Oukan's distinctive culinary approach create an intimate tasting experience celebrating the flavours, craftsmanship, and culture of Korean and Japanese tea.
